I’ll be the first person to admit that I really enjoy to push myself as much as I can. I’m always looking for ways to make my workouts more intense and difficult. This is one reason I love my weekly XIT class is that we get a lot of opportunities to make the workout our own through the weights we choose to utilize or adding another level of difficulty. This week, we were using the bosu in our condition circuit. I decided that I would try to make the very first exercise a little bit more challenging by flipping the bosu over and going up and over the flat side. While I was able to do a while set like this, it was not a good idea. It was much harder to maintain my balance and while I didn’t hurt myself that’s sort of a miracle. I completed all other bosu related exercises with the ball side of the bosu faced up. It was a good reminder that not everything needs to be ridiculously hard to be effective.
This first video is the way the exercise was intended to be done. This move involves a fair amount of balance and skill to begin with. I had the smart idea to turn the boss over to create even more instability. While I was able to do it, my form was not good and I came close to losing my balance several times. While I’m proud of myself for trying, this is definitely not a modification I would recommend.
