As part of our boxing warm-up, we do a lot of different things from jumping jacks to jumping rope to shadow boxing and even holding our kick form. Today we finished out warmup by holding our kick form on the each side for 1 minute at a time. We did each side twice and I can still feel it in my hips. While these videos might not look like I’m doing much, it’s actually a lot of work to maintain these positions. You really feel it through your whole lower body. The leg on the ground is getting a workout as are both of your hips and your abs. As the bag as a tendency to move a little, it also involves a fair amount of readjusting to stay steady. I love moves that involve holding a certain position for a specific time frame. I feel it adds a whole additional mental aspect to a primarily physical endeavor.
