Motivation Monday

This is one of my videos from XIT last week. I like this video because my form is pretty great and it’s an impressive amount of weight for the exercise. It’s very easy to use momentum to swing the weights back up, which takes away from the exercise. I make it a point to take a noticeable pause at the end of each rep to avoid taking away from the full effect of this move. I also get the weights up pretty high without overextending my elbows. I’m using 15 pound dumbbells in this video and I could feel the burn.  This is an exercise where lighter weight and good form are key.

I really like this video from pilates last week, because it looks like such a simple move. It really involves a ridiculous amount of stability and actually worked up a pretty decent sweat. As much time as I spend in the gym,  pilates always remains a challenge for me. The more I lift the more important it is to do things that help me maintain my flexibility to help avoid injuries. I actually attended class with a sprained ankle and after only an hour I could feel improvement.
